Why this award? Why now?
The process of academic and career advising is a valued activity. At Boise State, advisors embody the values of the University and should be recognized for their contributions to the university community. This recognition follows in the spirit of Boise State research, teaching and service awards.
Who can nominate for this award?
Faculty, staff and undergraduate students can nominate an advisor for the advising award.
Who is eligible to receive the award?
Any faculty advisor or professional advisor who has worked at Boise State University for at least two years and peer advisor who has worked for Boise State University for one year (and, of course, whom you feel provides excellent advising services).
How is the recipient selected?
A selection committee of seven people will select the winners from the eligible pool of nominees. Committee members include:
- Chair of University Advising Council
- 1 member from University Advising Council
- 2 faculty representatives
- 1 student representative
- 2 past award winners
In the event a committee member is nominated for the award, a replacement from the University Advising Council will be obtained.
When should I submit my nomination? How do I know if my nomination has really been received?
Nominations are accepted until early December. Don’t delay in nominating someone you feel is deserving of this award. Each nominee will receive a confirmation receipt via e-mail.
When will I know the results of my nomination?
Winners will be announced in January and award presentations will occur throughout the spring semester.
